MedTech Design conference lessons
CCD attended the IEHF Medical Device Design Workshop, last week, hosted at the Design Council. The workshop was full of interesting insights from excellent speakers and gave an opportunity to network and share usability and testing advice with other professionals working in the MedTech field.
It was good to see the diverse breadth of experience and backgrounds of the professionals attending and shows the impact that HF is having on the medical sector… and/or the impact that the regulation changes in the medical sector have had on HF!
One observation we made is how the regulations call for the use of personas, use cases, hazard identification and risk analysis tools which play an important role in the medical device development cycle. Some very good medical-specific iterations of these tools have been developed but it was interesting to see how they have very close links and crossovers with the human factors approaches, tools and techniques that have been in use in the rail, defence and consumer ergonomics fields for many years.
We look forward to continually developing our knowledge and experience in the Medical sector and to pass on the benefit of our design focused human factors approach to our clients.
Next week we will be attending the ANSI essential human factors for medical devices course in Dublin as well as the Medtec Ireland conference in Galway – if you are going to be there at either do get in touch and say hello.
