A new design collaboration with Loughborough University in London

We have just started a new and exciting collaboration with the Loughborough University in London campus.

Loughborough University London is an innovative post-graduate campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The programmes available are world class, provided by leaders in their field, including Digital Technologies, Media & Creative Industries, Design Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sport Business.  Courses will include an interdisciplinary ‘real-world’ collaborative project module with multiple touch points between Industry and the students.

CCD briefing Loughborough students on the design challenges

The CCD team briefing the students on challenge

The Collaborative Project has provided CCD with the unique opportunity to become a Project Champion.  We have set the students two problems linked to their activities that project teams, consisting of students from various disciplinary backgrounds, can engage with.  The students will draw on their own expertise from their respective disciplines and the project team, in collaboration with CCD, will explore innovative ways of thinking to tackle the two challenges and provide viable solutions.

The project enables the students to develop entrepreneurial skills, such as problem solving and strategic planning, as well as commercial awareness, communication and team working.  By working together and in partnership with CCD they will also learn from each other whilst tackling a real business issue.

The 4 month programme will culminate in a “dragons den” style pitch where each project team will present their solution to CCD.

We can’t tell you about the briefs at the moment but after the programme has finished we plan to post on what the students got up to and the solutions that emerged…so check back in early 2016 for an update.
