Borders Railway opens for passengers

Earlier this week the new Borders Railway opened for business. The new line is the longest railway line to be built in Britain for over 100 years. The new Borders Railway runs between Tweedbank and Edinburgh and was built at a cost of £294m

We’re proud to have made a small contribution to the project having worked with Network Rail in the design. We provided the ergonomics studies to look at how the new line would be controlled from the Edinburgh Signalling Centre. We conducted the workload assessment which examined the current operator workload and predicted the impact of adding the new line. Our work demonstrated that the new line could be operated safely by the existing operations team.
